Hello babs! Sorry for being so inactive the last week I was away in Disneyland Paris but I’m back and ready to get back into the swing of things! To kick off I thought why not do another highlighter review with the kind of new release of the Liquid Highlighters from Makeup Revolution!!!! I picked up mine on TamBeauty for £6.00 about a day or 2 after they were released because they were sold out on Superdrug… There are 7 liquid highlighters altogether in the collection but I only picked up 1 to begin with to see how I liked it as I’ve never used a liquid highlighter before… These are also supposed to be a dupe for the Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops (I haven’t tried them out yet) but for such an affordable price…
Side note: It comes with 18ml of product in it which for the price is AMAZING!
The product comes in a plastic bottle that has a metal like casing around it which is a gold/champagne colour. It has a rose gold screw on lid which has a black squeezy pipette mechanism at the top. The name of the brand and the product is in black lettering on the front and on the back it has a list of the ingredients and a little list of translators for the word ‘highlighter’ which I think is pretty cute! The pipette in which the product is distributed through is also made of plastic and is quite long.
(Without and with flash)
The highlighter is very much like the name states, it comes off as a nice gold/champagne colour which is a colour I personally like using on my skin tone! A little does go a long way with this product so you really don’t need to use a lot of it which is great as that means it won’t run out too quick haha. This highlighter almost gives your skin a ‘wet look’ appearance to it as you can see from the swatch it is very metallic and ‘wet looking’. It is very easy to blend out onto the skin and sinks in nicely.
There is 7 shades in this collection so I’m sure you will be able to find one that suits your skin tone as they have such a good variety of shades!
How I use mine??
1. The first way I used the highlighter was by mixing a few drops of it into my foundation to see if it would give me an overall ‘glow from within’ look and I have to admit I was very pleased, I never normally mix anything into my foundation but I actually really liked how it turned out!
2. The second way I used it was by using it out how I would normally apply highlighter so I used it on the top of my cheekbone. I applied a few drops onto my cheekbones and then patted it in with my finger (that way it didn’t disrupt the foundation underneath). Side note: I recommend doing this before you have applied powder to your face otherwise the highlighter will just cling onto powder and it will make it harder to blend.
The left side is with the highlighter mixed into the foundation and the right side is with it applied over the foundation.
Even though I have never used a liquid highlighter before I am very impressed with this one. I was quite sceptical to begin with as someone had told me that this product was not very good when they had used it and that they just couldn’t get it to work for them but I am so happy that I gave it a go for myself and think it works great! I would highly recommend giving this product a try if you’re someone who loves highlighter as it would be a great addition to your collection! Considering it is a dupe for a high-end product and for the price it’s amazing… if you have tried out the Cover FX ones and want to compare this one then let me know how it goes for you.
Thanks for reading!
See you in my next post…
