NYX: Ultimate Brights Palette❤️💜💙💚💛 | REVIEW

Hello babs! Because I have so many things that currently need reviewing I asked a few people what they would want to see next from my collection… the winner was this Ultimate Brights palette from NYX so thats what we’ll be talking about today! (Don’t worry I will be reviewing the rest of things that were voted for) Anyway, I’ve had this palette for a few months now as this was gifted to me for my birthday back in September. I don’t know where she got it from but what I do know is that it is available both on the NYX website and Boots for £16. This is the only palette I own dedicated to bright colours because I get too scared to experiment with them so when it was gifted to me I was a very happy bunny haha!

Side note: You get 13 eyeshadows with 0.83g of product and 3 pressed pigments with 0.83g of product.

Packaging

The eyeshadows come in a square plastic packaging which is predominantly black with a clear see-through front so that you can see the colours of the eyeshadows. The name of the brand and palette is in white lettering just at the bottom of the see-through front. The palette flips open and has a click shut mechanism. (The only problem is that it can be hard to actually get the palette open because of there being no groove to put your finger in so you have to open it from the sides).

First impressions

Just from first glance at the palette you can see the amount of different colours you get so this definitely looks like a fun palette to use. The palette doesn’t have a noticeable scent and I like the layout of the colours also. When I first tried to open the palette I will admit that I struggled because of there being no actual groove to put your finger in… Having a more in-depth look at the colours I could see that the majority of them were matte but there was a few that have an almost glitter/shimmer reflect to them. The formula is quite creamy and bendable but I noticed when I was trying to remove them from my eye it was a little bit difficult and they did like to stain slightly so you have to work a bit more than usual to get these off. (What that does show you is that they are long lasting so won’t budge throughout the day)

The eyeshadows…

Side note: I have dipped in twice to do my swatches like I always do to get a good opinion on the shadows pigmentation with build 🙂 The eyeshadows also have no names so I will describe what each shade is like…

Lets start with the top row…

(Without and with flash)

Shade 1 – This is a red matte which has a slight glitter/shimmer reflect to it. Slightly patchy but can be built up. Pigmentation 3/5.
Shade 2 – This is a hot pink matte shade. Pigmentation 4/5.
Shade 3 – This is a peachy orange matte shade. Pigmentation 4/5.
Shade 4 – This is an orange matte shade. Slightly patchy but can be built up. Pigmentation 3/5.

Second row…

Shade 5 – This is a deep purple matte shade. Pigmentation 4/5.
Shade 6 – This is a pinky purple matte shade. Pigmentation 4/5.
Shade 7 – This is a coral pink matte shade. Pigmentation 4/5.
Shade 8 – This is a lilac purple matte shade. Pigmentation 4/5.

Third row…

Shade 9 – This is a ocean blue matte shade which has a slight glitter/shimmer reflect to it. Pigmentation 3/5.
Shade 10 – This is an aqua blue matte shade. Pigmentation 4/5.
Shade 11 – This is a turquoise blue/green matte shade which has a slight glitter/shimmer reflect to it. Pigmentation 3/5.
Shade 12 – This is a mint green matte shade. Pigmentation 3/5.

Last row…

Shade 13 – This is a forest green matte shade. Slightly patchy but can be built up. Pigmentation 3/5.
Shade 14 – This is a lime green matte shade which has a slight glitter/shimmer reflect to it. Pigmentation 4/5.
Shade 15 – This is an orangy yellow matte shade. Slightly patchy but can be built up. Pigmentation 3/5.
Shade 16 – This is a yellow matte shade. Pigmentation 4/5.

Final thoughts…

I do really like this palette because of how fun and bright it is. The pigmentation overall is good but some shades do need a bit of extra love to get them to perform how you want them to on the eyes. I definitely think the price is good for the amount of shades you actually get because it works out about £1 per eyeshadow pan!! If you’re someone who likes to create fun and bright looks then this is definitely one to add to the collection but if you’re like me and don’t know whether you’re brave enough to experiment then I would recommend buying it as it’s helped me step out of my comfort zone a lot with using bright colours!

Thanks for reading!
