Urban Decay: All Nighter Foundation | REVIEW

Hello babs! It’s been so long since I’ve done a foundation review so I thought I would do one today… I have had this foundation for a couple of months now so have managed to finalise my opinion on it. Funny story though, I went into Selfridges with my sister adamant that I was going to get the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation to try but she wanted to get matched up for this one… after seeing how the Urban Decay was on her skin I knew I had to buy it haha! I picked up mine from Selfridges for £29 in the shade 2.0 (which is described as Fair with a soft warm undertone) but it is also available on the Urban Decay website for the same price.

Side note: This comes with 30ml/1 fl oz of product in it.

Claims: “All Nighter Liquid Foundation provides full coverage with a modern matte finish that never looks overdone. This waterproof, paraben-free formula diffuses light to blur flaws for beautifully perfected skin as it mattifies and absorbs oil to reduce the appearance of shine.”

Packaging

img_6024This foundation comes in a plastic shiny almost metal looking bottle. It comes with a removable lid that securely clicks shut and has a pump mechanism. The brand initials are imprinted onto the front of the bottle and on the top of the lid and the name of the product is in black lettering at the bottom of the bottle. On the front of the bottle is has a unique design on where some parts of the packaging look missing so that you can see the shade through it.

First impressions/Testing the claims

The first thing I like to check with any product is if it has a scent… this does slightly have one but it is not overpowering and you can hardly notice it. I really liked the look of the packaging also as its very unique and the design is quite eye-catching. This foundation gave me a matte finish and it did cling onto my dry patches only slightly on my forehead… if you moisturiser or primer beforehand then you should be fine. I find that it works best for me applied with a beauty blender because it distributes the product out more than when I use a brush. I feel that you have to use more pumps if you are using a brush rather than a beauty blender to cover the face but either way it does give a good full coverage. It is quite long-wearing but can start to come off slightly if you do constantly touch your skin… mine comes off on and around my nose because I do rub it quite a lot.

Full coverage? – Yes. When I applied this to my face it definitely covered everything that I wanted to. I have quite a bit of redness when my skin is dry and this covered it perfectly. Also, my sister has this foundation as well as she suffers with dry skin and spots around her jawline/neck and this foundation eliminated all redness and you couldn’t even notice the spots afterwards either! Matte/reduce the appearance of shine? – Yes 100%. Once this had settled onto the skin it was 100% matte and you couldn’t see any shine peaking through (not that I have much shine anyway because I’m as dry as anything). It is slightly too matte for my liking because it emphasised the dryness on my forehead but to be honest that can easily be fixed by using moisturiser or primer beforehand. Waterproof? – Yes. I love testing this out because I find it so fascinating and fun. I splashed a bit of water onto the bottom of my face and the water just sat on top of the skin, it did not sink in and when I wiped the water off it didn’t take any of the foundation with it. (I’m not sure how it would look after you went swimming in this though… haha).

Final thoughts…

I have honestly been loving this foundation and I will definitely be repurchasing it again when it runs out because the price is actually quite good as well. Urban Decay have recently just launched an All Nighter Concealer which I am dying to try now after seeing how good this foundation is… My skin tone looks so great after using this because it just evens it out so well and covers everything I need it to. I also love how the shade range that Urban Decay have in this foundation… they have 24 which is incredible so I definitely don’t think you’ll have trouble finding your shade. Just be mindful that if you do have reaaaaaally dry skin then just be aware that this makes your skin look very matte but if you have oily skin then this would work great because it will mattify it and it’s oil-free. Definitely recommend trying this foundation out if you haven’t already… 🙂
