I Heart Makeup: Chocolate Orange Palette🍫🍊 | REVIEW

Hello babs! What better way to get into the Christmas spirit then to review the new chocolate bar palette from I Heart Makeup… this palette is so Christmassy to me because Terry’s Chocolate Oranges are always hyped about near Christmas and this one is called the Chocolate Orange palette (how fitting)!!! I picked mine up on TAM Beauty for £8.99 but it is also available from Superdrug for the same price. This palette screams warm tones so lets take a look at it shall we…

Packaging

img_6123The eyeshadows come in a shiny brown plastic packaging that has an orange 3D melted chocolate effect on the front. The palette flips open and has a secure click shut mechanism. Inside it has a mirror and a dual-ended sponge applicator. There is also a plastic removable sheet which has the shade names on it.

Ingredients

MICA, ALUMINIUM STARCH OCTENYLSUCCINATE, TALC, MAGNESIUM STEARATE, PARAFFINUM LIQUIDUM, ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE, POLYBUTENE, KAOLIN, SILICA, POLYETHYLENE, BIS-DIGLYCERYL POLYACYLADIPATE-1, DIMETHICONE, METHYLPARABEN, PROPYLPARABEN, PARFUM, [+/-: CI 77891, CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499, CI 77007, CI 15850, CI 15985]

First impressions

I am not kidding you when I say that this palette smells like oranges… unfortunately its not a chocolate orange smell though but its nothing too overpowering (I really like it). When I first looked at the shades in the palette I noticed that it screams warm tones because the theme of this palette is of course oranges. There are a lot more mattes in this palette compared to shimmer shades. I really like the names in this palette as well because the majority of them are related to oranges which I think is a nice touch. For some reason when I was swatching these shades I felt like they were way more creamy in formula than any of the other chocolate bar palettes I have and the shadows are easy to blend/work with as well.

The eyeshadows…

Side note: I have dipped in twice to do my swatches like I always do to get a good opinion on the shadows pigmentation with build 🙂

Final thoughts…

If you like warm tones then this palette will definitely be for you… yes you may have shades that are similar in other eyeshadow palettes but I wouldn’t pass this up. I love the packaging and the shades are gorgeous! I feel like the mattes perform a lot better than previous chocolate bar palettes and the shimmers are still as good quality. I highly recommend this palette and for the price I think its great. If you have blue eyes then this will especially be good for you because orange, reds and browns make blue eyes POP. If you’re a collector of these palettes then theres no question about getting it haha.

  1. I noticed that the packaging and chocolate theme is very similar to Too Faced chocolate bar palates. I was wondering how these compare to the Too Faced palates in terms of pigmentation and quality. Thank you for such an insightful review
