Primark: PS… Chocolate Cheek Palette🍫 | REVIEW

Hello babs! Coming at you with a review of a new release today… I recently found out after reading Sophie’s post (PrettyLittleBlog) that Primark have released a chocolate makeup range ahhhhhh! So when I went into my local Primark the other day I picked up this cheek palette for £4 which I think is an absolute steal for 4 face products in decent sized pans actually!

Side note: This has 4 pans which have 3.5g of product in each.

Packaging

Snapchat-2144459974.jpgThe face products come in a square cardboard packaging that has a chocolate bar picture on the front with a melted effect near the top. The name of the brand and product is in shiny gold lettering and it has 2 pink hearts on it as well. Inside it does have a plastic protective sheet over the pans that is removable. The packaging flips open and has a magnetic shut mechanism. Inside the flap it has a melted chocolate effect again but with a pink background underneath with “PS… Chocolate” written in gold shiny lettering (unfortunately I would have liked a mirror to be in that area but for the price I can’t complain too much). The products come in heart shape pans which have the names written underneath.

Ingredients

MICA, TALC, SYNTHETIC FLUORPHLOGOPITE, DIMETHICONE, ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE, ZINC STEARATE, ALUMINIUM STARCH OCTENYLSUCCINATE, PARFUM (FRAGRANCE), TIN OXIDE, METHYLPARABEN, PROPYLPARABEN, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, BENZYL ALCOHOL, BENZYL BENZOATE. (+/-) MAY CONTAIN: CI 16035 (RED 40 LAKE), CI 19140 (YELLOW 5 LAKE), CI 77491 / CI 77492 / CI 77499 (IRON OXIDES), CI 77742 (MANGANESE VIOLET), CI 77891 (TITANIUM DIOXIDE)

First impressions

Now because in the name it says chocolate I wanted to actually see if the palette smells like chocolate and I can confirm it does but its nothing overpowering and I actually find it quite pleasant. I love the look of this palette just from the packaging but when I opened it I loved it even more because the pans are in the shapes of hearts (how cute)! In the palette you get 1 highlighter, 2 blushers and a 1 contour/bronzer. The pans are actually decent sizes and just from looking at the shades I think they will work quite well with my skin tone. The contour shade I think will work better as a bronzer on me but I love the look of the blushers and the highlighter. I definitely think this will work on those who have medium skin tone but I also think it may work on those who are paler if they use a light hand… I think this looks like a great palette to travel with as you have all the face products you will need and its very lightweight and compact but the only thing letting it down is the fact that there is no mirror 😦 The pigmentation of these isn’t WOW but I think they are very buildable and they blend out well on the face. There is a little bit of kick-up in the pans but that doesn’t really bother me.

The swatches!!!!!

Side note: I have dipped in twice to do my swatches like I always do to get a good opinion on the shadows pigmentation with build 🙂

(Without and with flash)

Vanilla Cream – This is a champagne gold highlighter. This is quite subtle but it can definitely be built up on the face to look more intense. Does look slightly glittery on the skin so bear that in mind.
Chocolate Orange – This is a mauve blusher which is buildable in pigmentation which I like in a blush as it means that you won’t look like a clown after just one swipe on the face haha!
Strawberry Melt – This is a pinkish red blusher which is slightly more pigmented than Chocolate Orange so just be careful when applying this one the face.
Milk Chocolate – This on my skin tone looks quite orange but I can just about get away with this on my face as a bronzer. If I use a light hand then it looks fine but if I use too much then it makes me look a little orange. I definitely wouldn’t use this as a contour shade.

Final thoughts…

I do really like this palette for the price and I definitely think you should pick it up as it would be good to travel with. The pigmentation isn’t incredible but personally I prefer more buildable face products to work with. I would have liked the highlighter to have been slightly more blinding but again thats my personal preference. I will definitely be getting more use out of this little palette!! Primark have really been stepping up the makeup game recently and I am all for it. If this product doesn’t take your fancy in the collection then there is always an eyeshadow palette, a highlighter and a couple of lip kits to try out… 🙂

Thanks for reading!

See you in my next post…
