Maybelline: Superstay 24H Full Coverage Foundation | REVIEW

Hello babs! It’s been a while since I’ve done a foundation review on my blog but I thought I’d review the one today that I tried out in a first impressions collaboration and it is the Maybelline Superstay 24H Full Coverage Foundation. The reason why I picked up this foundation is because I saw Sophdoesnails rave about it on her YouTube channel so I thought I’d see what the hype was about… I got mine from Superdrug for £9.99 in the shade 05 Light Beige but you can also get it from Boots for the same price!

Side note: This comes with 30ml of product in it.

Claims: “Full coverage foundation with up to 24H wear.”

Packaging

snapchat-1909821612_mr1519300539148.jpgThis foundation comes in a clear glass bottle so you can clearly see the shade with a matte white lid. The name of the foundation is in grey and pink lettering on a white sticker stuck on the lid and the name of the brand is in grey lettering on the bottle. The lid clicks on and it has a shiny white plastic pump.

First impressions/Testing the claims

The first thing I like to check with any product is if it has a scent… this does slightly have one but it is not overpowering and you can hardly notice it. I really liked the look of the packaging also as it looks very sleek! I would say to go in and match yourself for this foundation because the ones I were picking up that looked right for me definitely weren’t! This foundation gave me a very matte finish and emphasised on my dryness A LOT all over my face (not sure if it because I used a beauty blender but I will continue to experiment with it and see if it changes or not). If you have oily skin then I think this would work great for you 🙂 You don’t need to use a lot of product either as a little goes a long way! I do think this is quite long-lasting but can come off around my nose (most foundations do that for me anyway).

Full coverage? – I would say this is medium to full coverage… it did cover the majority of my face but on areas around my nose I had to apply a little more. It did cover my redness that I have from my dry skin so definitely medium coverage but can be built up to full. Just beware that it can start to look a little cakey on the skin when building it up to full coverage!

Final thoughts…

I am really not liking this foundation at all and I really wanted to like it after seeing Sophdoesnails rave about it but yeah 😦 Not sure if it’s because of the way I am applying it or not but it almost makes my skin look scaly because of how much it clings to my dryness! I’m going to keep trying out different ways to apply it but at the moment its a no. If you have oily skin then I do think this would probably work better than it does for those who have dry skin. Personally I wouldn’t recommend it for people with dry skin like me but for those with oily skin then perhaps give it a try and see…
