Hello babs! I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve actually done a review on my blog and it feels even longer since I’ve done a highlighter review… so I’m going to kill two birds with one stone today and review a highlighter on here haha! I’m going to be reviewing the Tanya Burr Illuminating Powder today in the shade Champagne Sorbet, I’ve actually had this one since Christmas as it was bought as a present so finally I get to use it and talk about it. I believe this is still available in Superdrug stores (correct me if I’m wrong) but it doesn’t seem to be on their website so I’m not quite sure on the price…. SORRY GUYS 😦
Side note: You get 12g/0.4oz of product in this.
The highlighter comes in a square plastic packaging that has gold around the edges of the lid with a clear middle so you can see the shade through it. On the clear part of the lid it has the name of the brand in black lettering. The lid flips open and has a click shut mechanism. On the back it has a sticker with the name of the product and shade on it along with the list of ingredients.
MICA, KAOLIN, TALC, DIMETHICONE, PARAFFINUM LIQUIDUM (MINERAL OIL), ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE, POLYBUTENE, PHENOXYETHANOL, PIROCTONE OLAMINE, [+/- CI 77891 (TITANIUM DIOXIDE), CI 77491 (IRON OXIDES)]
Side note: I have dipped in twice for these swatches as I always do because I like to see how the pigmentation builds 🙂 however it was just as pretty with one swipe.
(Without and with flash)
This highlighter definitely comes off like its name suggests… it is a lovely champagne shade. When swatching with your finger it doesn’t feel very creamy in the pan but I think that is because of the shape of it… it almost has a dome effect to it. However, on the skin it applies lovely and blends out very nice. It doesn’t look glittery on the skin but does look slightly shimmery. It is not a subtle highlighter but it’s not too intense either. You can definitely build it up to be blinding on the skin which is what I prefer.
I actually am loving this highlighter at the moment, I think the shade is stunning and it looks lovely on the skin. If you can get your hands on this then I definitely recommend trying it out! If you like a subtle glow then you may like this but it’s not really subtle like it can still be seen on the skin definitely. As well, if you like a blinding highlighter then you can definitely build this up to be one which is what I have been doing. If you like a highlighter that’s in the middle of subtle and blinding then this is great for that.
Thanks for reading!
See you in my next post…
