I Heart Revolution VIOLET Palette Review💜🍫

Hello babs! I apologise for the amount of chocolate palette reviews you will be seeing soon but I have a fair few still left to review… so today’s one I’ll be reviewing is the Violet palette. I can’t remember where I bought mine from but they are available on RevolutionBeauty and Superdrug for the same price of £8.99.

There are 11 matte shades with 1.2g/0.042oz of product in each. There are 7 shimmer shades with 1g/0.035oz of product in each.

Packaging

Like the rest of the palettes the shadows come in a shiny plastic brown packaging but this one has a purple coloured 3D melted chocolate effect on the front. The palette flips open and has a click-shut mechanism. Inside it comes with a full size mirror and the names of the shadows are printed underneath each shade.

Ingredients

MICA, ALUMINIUM STARCH OCTENYLSUCCINATE, TALC, MAGNESIUM STEARATE, PARAFFINUM LIQUIDUM, ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE, POLYBUTENE, POLYMETHYL METHACRYLATE, SILICA, POLYETHYLENE, DIMETHICONE, METHYLPARABEN, PROPYLPARABEN, TIN OXIDE, PARFUM, [+/-: CI 77891, CI 77492, CI 77499, CI 77510, CI 77007, CI 77742, CI 15850, CI 77266, CI 16035, CI 77491]

First impressions

First off, I absolutely love the colour of the packaging, I think purple is such a lovely colour. However I was a little sceptical to buy this palette as I’m not someone who normal goes for purple toned eyeshadow looks… but I had to get it as I am a collector of these palettes.  The palette like all the rest of them has a faint chocolate smell which isn’t overpowering at all! What I love about the palette is that there are more mattes in ratio to shimmers which is good because I prefer to have more mattes than shimmers as you then have more to work with. I feel like this palette doesn’t allow many options for different eye looks… you can only really get away with a purple/red toned smokey look. Personally, I feel as though this a palette that would look lovely on deeper skin tones but if you’re someone who loves wearing purple tones on your eyes then you’d definitely love this! I have used the palette once and the shadows were okay to work with, some of them were slightly harder to blend than others but I think that may be down to the formula as purple shades are quite hard to make… that being said, overall the shadows worked good but some needed a little more time spent on them than others. I did have a little fall-out as well so just bear that in mind if you are going to get this palette… I’d recommend doing eyes before base.

Swatches

Disclaimer: Don’t always rely on swatches of shadows because sometimes they perform better on the eyes than they do in the swatches or vice versa… I just like to show swatches so you get an idea on what the colours look like.

Final thoughts…

I think this is an okay palette but there were quite a few matte shades that were patchy in pigmentation and needed a little more TLC but if you don’t mind that then you should be fine. The colour theme of this palette is pretty and I like how they stuck to the purple/violet theme but like I said I’m never usually one to reach for these colours but if you are and can make them work then definitely give it a go. If you have a deeper skin tone then I think this palette would look beautiful!
