Hello babs! I’m going to be reviewing another chocolate bar palette from I Heart Revolution today and this one is the Galactic palette. This is quite a recent release from them, I think from about the middle of 2018. I picked mine up from the Revolution Beauty website for £9 but it is also available on Superdrug for £8.99. (Not sure why there is 1p difference…) This is quite a space themed palette but I will talk more about that during the review.
There are 18 eyeshadows in this palette. x5 mattes with 1.2g / 0.042oz of product in each. x13 shimmers with 1g / 0.035oz of product in each.
Like all the other palettes, the shadows come in a shiny brown plastic rectangular packaging. This one has a shiny silver melted chocolate effect on the front. The palette flips open and inside it has a full size mirror. It has a click shut mechanism and the shade names are printed on the palette underneath each individual shade.

BAKING POWDERS – MICA, MAGNESIUM ALUMINIUM SILICATE, NYLON-12, SYNTHETIC FLUORPHLOGOPITE, PARAFFINUM LIQUIDUM, ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE, SILICA, POLYBUTENE, DIMETHICONE, PHENOXYETHANOL, METHYLPARABEN, TIN OXIDE [+/-: CI 77891, CI 77491, CI 77499, CI 77510, CI 16035, CI 45410].
When I first opened the palette I could tell straight away that the theme for this palette is galaxy/space because of the shades and from reading the shade names. Just like the other chocolate palettes, this one has a nice smell of chocolate, nothing too overpowering but bear that in mind if you are someone who is sensitive to scented products. Now, there are more shimmers in this palette then there are mattes and I prefer to have more mattes than shimmers so that does let this down a little bit… There looks to be 3 different formulas in this palette – matte, shimmer and baked (the baked ones look like they have another colour running through the main one). The shade range isn’t really what I tend to go for but if you are someone who’s into these tones then you could probably make this work, me however, probably not. The shades overall have good pigmentation, some need quite a lot of building to get them where you want them to be. I find that to be the case with the baked shadows, they tend to need more TLC. They work well on the eyes and blend together well but I’d say this palette is one you have to spend more time working with.
Disclaimer: Don’t always rely on swatches of shadows because sometimes they perform better on the eyes than they do in the swatches or vice versa… I just like to show swatches so you get an idea on what the colours look like.
(Without and with flash)
Supernova – This is a bone matte shade which could be good to set an eyelid primer/base. Pigmentation 4/5.
Constellation – This is a terracotta orange shimmer which looks darker in the pan than on the swatch. Pigmentation 4/5.
Asterism – This is a pink baked shadow. Pigmentation 3/5.
Black Hole – This is a brown shimmer with a blue shift to it (kinda reminds me of MAC Blue Brown). Pigmentation 4/5.
Cosmic Crush – This is a light purple/grey baked shadow. Pigmentation 3/5.
Moon Rocks – This is a muddy green/brown matte shade which is slightly lighter than ‘Seen From Mars’. Pigmentation 3/5.
Interstella – This is a berry red shimmer. Pigmentation 3.5/5.
Out of Space – This is a deep purple baked shadow. Pigmentation 3/5.
One Small Step – This is a champagne yellow shimmer which could be good to use as an inner corner or under the brow highlight. Pigmentation 3/5.
Solar Flare – This is a light blue baked shadow. Pigmentation 3/5.
Seen From Mars – This is a deep green/brown matte shade which is slightly darker than ‘Moon Rocks’. Pigmentation 3/5.
Alien Chic – This is a deep berry red baked shadow. Pigmentation 3/5.
Intergalactic – This is a deep brown/black shimmer. Pigmentation 3.5/5.
Dark Matter – This is a terracotta orange matte shade. Pigmentation 3/5.
Andromeda – This is a plum purple matte shade. Pigmentation 3/5.
Far Far Away – This is a black matte shade. (Has lots of glitters running through it in the pan but not many show up on the skin). Pigmentation 3.5/5.
Space Queen – This is a light pink baked shadow. Pigmentation 4/5.
Eclipse – This is a deep blue/green shimmer. Pigmentation 3/5.
This isn’t a palette that I necessarily reach for but it’s nice to have in my collection just incase. I don’t reach for it purely because of the shade selection, I’m not one who normally sways towards darker colours… If you’re into these sorts of shades then this may be the palette for you. It’s not the best palette pigmentation wise but if you put in a little TLC then it could probably work great for you. If you’re not into these galaxy/space shades then I would probably steer clear of this one.
