I Heart Revolution DEATH BY CHOCOLATE Palette Review⚰️🍫

Hello babs! I’m going to be reviewing another eyeshadow palette today but it’s going to be another chocolate bar palette from I Heart Revolution and this one is called Death by Chocolate. This is one of their older chocolate bar palettes and if I can remember correctly this was a Christmas present from a few years ago… It looks as though you can only get this from the Revolution Beauty website for £9.

There are 16 eyeshadows in this palette and overall this palette has 22g of product in it. Roughly estimated at 0.73g of product in each shadow.

Packaging

Like all the other palettes, the shadows come in a shiny brown plastic rectangular packaging. This one has a shiny brown melted 3D effect on the front which is the same colour as the rest of the packaging. The palette flips open and inside it has a full size mirror. It has a click shut mechanism and inside there is a plastic removable sheet with all of the shade names on. There was a space inside the palette for a dual-ended sponge applicator but I threw mine out.

First impressions

Just like the other chocolate palettes, this one has a nice smell of chocolate, nothing too overpowering but bear that in mind if you are someone who is sensitive to scented products. When I first opened the palette I could tell straight away that the palette is very cool toned from the shades inside. There a 6 matte shades and 10 shimmers in this palette and I typically like to have more matte shades than shimmers so that is a little off putting for me. The shade selection is nice if you’re into cool toned shades but for me I’m more of a warm toned gal at heart… What I do like about the palette is the fact that you have a bone matte shade as well as a black matte shade (the black isn’t the best I’ve come across but it definitely does the job). The matte shades overall have good pigmentation but some do need a little more building especially the black. The shimmers also have good pigmentation, not the best shimmers ever but again they do the job. The look nice on the eyes and blend well together but if you’re using the black then just be sure to give it a bit more TLC. When working with the shimmers I would recommend using either your finger or a damp brush as they aren’t that intense if you just use a normal dry brush…

Swatches

Disclaimer: Don’t always rely on swatches of shadows because sometimes they perform better on the eyes than they do in the swatches or vice versa… I just like to show swatches so you get an idea on what the colours look like.

Final thoughts…

This palette isn’t the best palette ever that I’ve tried but it does a good job of what it’s supposed to. If you’re into cool tones or you’re just starting out in makeup then this would be a nice palette to work with and try. It’s not as good as ones that have been released afterwards but it’s not the worst palette I’ve tried either. Personally it’s just not my cup of tea, but you may like it if your are someone who’s into these shades. Its a good palette for the price but for me its just not as good as the recent ones released which are also the same price…
